Excited about the upcoming season

To all may Cycle Logic teammates. I am glad to see that everyone had a good time on the group ride. The pictures are worth a thousand words. I apologize once again for not being there, and I am looking forward to the next time we all get together. I am extremely pleased to see that everyone pulled together and made this happen. If our past is any indication of what our future holds, then the cycling community better look out. It was only a few months ago, that five of us sat down and discussed the idea of starting our own team. It Just Made Sense. Since then we have grown astronomically and I expect that we will continue to grow.

It is exciting to see so many people interested in what we were trying to accomplish, not only from the stand point of riders, but also from sponsors. I would personally like to take the time now to thank all of them for their support. Thank you also, to everyone on or associated with the team that worked deligently on obtaining the sponsors we needed to make this all possible. It really is exciting to see what is possible when people get serious, propose a plan, and work together to make it happen. Our efforts have only begun. Now we can direct our focus towards the race season, where again, we can work together to make our dreams a reality. I look forward to riding, competing, and having fun together this coming season.

WHAT A SUCCESS!!

Wow!
What a month it's been.
It's hard to believe the team that is now almost 20 strong, only three months ago started with 5 people thinking; "hey, we ride together all the time.  Why don't we buy some matching jerseys?"
A month later, we had 12 members, and then 15, and now 19!!

I know everyone has been busting their humps this last month trying to get sponsors lined up to support the team throughout the year, and it looks like our efforts have really paid off.  I would like to thank everyone who put forth an effort to gain outside support for the team, and I would like to thank all of the sponsors who were so generous, and that really believed in our startup team.  The results I've seen of some of our members are astounding, and I feel that the Cycle-Logic Bicycle Racing Team will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in Florida Cyclilng in the coming year.  I mean come on, it just makes sense!!

My conversations with Paul throughout the day today have been positive as far as kit design goes, and it looks like we should have something submitted to the sublimator by tomorrow morning.  Our hopes are to receive the full kit order in time for the first race weekend, but as we go through the design/ sublimation process, we will get a better idea of where we stand for a ship date.

Our team group ride this weekend was a successful one.  It was exciting to see 15 of us rolling out of the park, two wide.  I could just imagine what we will look like dressed in full team kits!!  ...and the sponsorship that we've received!!  I don't know about anyone else, but I think Veronica was kind of excited about the UF & Shands Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute.

I know Paul is plenty busy trying to put the finishing touches on the kits, but as soon as he gets some free time (maybe sometime in April) I'm sure he'll post some of the pictures from this past weekend.

I look forward to a successful year with my Cycle-Logic Teammates, and I hope you are all as excited as I am.

Christmas

Hello all my Cycle Logic teammates,
I just wanted to write and let everyone know what is going on with me. I was looking forward to our first group ride together on Sun. 12-17-06, but my vacation plans changed and now I will be leaving on the 16th. Unfortunately I am going to miss the ride. Those of you who have ridden with me before are probably relieved and for those who have not ridden with me will find out soon enough what its like. Just kidding, I think. I have ridden with several of our teammates before and even though I am not the best rider, I make one heck of a domestique. Just ask James, Vern, Ron, and John.

Anyway, I will be in the Smokey Mountains snowboarding the week of 12-16 through 12-23. Hopefully there will be another team ride in the near future that I can participate in. I hope all of you have a fun and safe ride. I'm sure there will be a blog on it when I get back so I look forward to hearing about it. Everyone have a Merry Christmas.

Cycle-Logic Holiday Team Gathering/ Group Ride

Ron, Josh and James riding through beautiful Marion County at this year's Horse Farm Hundred.

Seeing as how the Cycle-Logic Team is spread out through 4 counties in Central Florida, I thought it might be a good idea for us all to get together for a social ride so we can all get to know each other.

Since we are now about 17 strong, I realize it may be difficult for the entire team to coordinate their schedules to be available on the same day. On that note, I hoped giving enough advanced notice to everyone might help.

The Flemington Community Park (yes, the park that we visit twice on the Horsefarm Hudred) seems to be a good mid-point between Leesburg and Gainesville, and a short drive from all locations, as well as having some of the most picturesque riding in the state. We are currently working on a scenic 40 mile route with rolling hills that should be within the capacity of all riders. Maps will be provided prior to beginning the ride.

The meeting place will be: Flemington - intersection of 100 Ave Rd and CR 329
Date: Sunday, December 17, 2006
Time: 9:30 am
Directions:
Exit #368 off of I-75 (CR 318).
Proceed west on CR 318 to CR 329.
Turn right (north) on CR 329 to the Flemington Community Park on the left
.

If you need to Mapquest it, the address is:
Flemington Community Park
18200 N Hwy 329
Flemington, FL

The focus of this ride will be team building, and getting to know our teammates. We understand that some of our racers are gearing up for the upcoming race season, and a social ride may not be in your training schedule, but it would be nice to have as many of the Cycle-Logic teammates attend as possible.

By the way, I've contacted the Red Bull energy team to try and meet us before the ride to 'energize' us!!

18 Days Left

The clock is ticking...just 18 more days to have sponsors sign for the 2007 season and still get their logo's on the jersey. Then we can get down to what we all do best.

Sponsorship

Hello everyone,

I hope we are all working hard on obtaining sponsors. I myself delivered all my packets in the first two days that I had them. So far the response has been a positive one. I realize the first sponsor was an easy one for me because it was my business, but I have received money from some other businesses as well. If all of us are being as consistent as myself, I don't see where we are going to have any problems raising the money we need to establish ourselves as the team we want to be.

Just to give you an idea of my leads I would like to name them for you. I will start with those who have already given us a commitment: Pittman and Son Pest Control and Performance Parts are the only two that have already given money. Lincare (a health care business), Quality Banner (a banner company), and Compass Gym all have shown a very promising interest in what we are trying to accomplish. My lead with the most potential for our primary sponsor spot is the Ocala Eye Surgery Center. They too have shown a great interest in our team. The marketing director as well as a couple of doctors who work there are very interested in helping us. Hopefully they will have time this week to present our information to the remaining doctors on the commitee and make a decision in time for us to have them on board.

I have been able to get a few of our packets back from those who were either not interested or those who did sponsor us. I plan on targeting a few other potetial leads before our deadline. Even though time is running out I think there is a possibility that we can get more. So keep working hard. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

Sponsorship Packets are in!

By now you should have all received sponsorship packets. If you have any questions, contact James Penrod.

Remember, in order for a sponsor's logo to make it onto the jersey for the 2007 season, they'll need to have signed the contract and supplied us with their company's logo by December 15th!

Also, be sure to stay in communication with either James or Paul concerning sponsors who have signed or are going to sign.

Team Meeting recap...

Sundays team meeting at the downtown square in Ocala turned out to be very informative. Nine of us were able to attend and introductions between those of us who hadn't met before were made.

We got right down to business and did a lot of talking about the Team Packet. The packet outlines a lot of very useful information for potential sponsors. It also contains the rider bios that each of us filled out. These packets are going to be very instrumental in our efforts to secure sponsorship for the upcoming season. We set a budget and a timeline for the completion of the packets and I can gladly report that we are on schedule and under budget. We plan on having the packets to all of you by the first of next week. In the meantime, you can study up on all the sponsorship information by going to the Team Packet PDF. This is just a screen resolution PDF and should not be printed. While you're perusing our Team Profile, you can also read about your new Cycle Logic teammates.

We then got down to talking about the Team Kit (jersey and shorts). We have a working design that's pretty close to final, all we need is some real sponsor logos to fill it up and we're set. In order for us to have our kits in by the time racing starts in February, we'll need to send off our design to be sublimated (printed) before Christmas. This means that we need to start pounding the pavement ASAP. Those of you who have some good leads with potential sponsors, don't hesitate to talk to them. Below is the "working design" for our Cycle Logic Kit.

All logos are for placement only and will be replaced with actual team sponsors prior to printing

We snapped a bunch of photos of each other, most of which can be seen in the team packet and lastly we tried on some cycling jerseys and shorts from the fit kit sent to us by Z bike wear. For those of you who were unable to attend sundays meeting, and were wanting to try on some sample clothing, the fit kit needed to be returned ASAP. One thing to remember when ordering time comes is that Z bike wear uses European sizing...so if you normally wear a Large jersey, chances are that you'll need an XL for our kit.

If you have questions about sizing, you can consult Z bike wear's website here -or- James has got a pretty good idea of the sizing after sifting through dozens of differnt articles of cycling-wear.

Feel free to leave a question, comment or concern and we'll talk to you all soon.

Calling all Cycle-Logic Teammates:

The excitement is growing, and the team is growing just as quickly.

The team profile and sponsors packet is in the final stages right now. These profiles will be used as a marketing tool to attract sponsors to any one of our 4 sponsorship levels. There are already more than a couple of serious leads with companies willing to lend their money and support to our fledgling team. If you have any leads for potential monetary or product sponsors, please keep us posted so we can provide you with a presentation packet.

We have ordered team logo T-shirts for those riders that have expressed interest thus far, and we are planning our first team gathering for next Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 2:00 in the Ocala town square where we will also have a team and individual photos taken to finalize the presentation packets.
Directions:
From G-ville take I-75 south to the Hwy 40 exit. Go east until you reach the downtown square. We will meet on the corner adjacent to Harry's Restaurant.

The Gazebo at the Downtown Square in lovely Ocala, Florida

We are hoping the second team T-shirt order arrives by this date, but in case they don't, a few people may have to improvise. The T-shirts that were ordered are grey, so please bring or wear a grey T-shirt (with as little graphics as possible) so we can all blend in.

I know we all have busy schedules, and that it may be necessary for some teammates to miss this meeting. We would, however like as many teammates to attend as possible in order to get a good team photo, and to familiarize ourselves with OUR team.

If needed, we can arrange for another photo session to include the entire team.

Team Startup Update - Cycle Logic

Who is Cycle-Logic?

Cycle Logic is a budding new team currently consisting of several up and coming Category 4 and 5 cyclists.  We started The Cycle Logic Bicycle Racing Team, well because 'it just makes sense'.  Individually, we come from different sporting backgrounds including triathlon, swimming, running, bodybuilding and football, but cycling has brought us all together.  We have all been riding for some time, and our racing experience ranges from one to several years.  While batting around the idea of forming a new team, we all agreed the key to a successful team, is a successful team atmosphere where the concentration is first and foremost on enjoying ourselves and our friendship while supporting each other at races and events.

Currently we are working on finalizing some important presentation information to provide potential sponsors and teammates.  Once the initial footwork is complete, we will be hitting the road, drumming up sponsorship throughout Central Florida.

We are all excited about Team Cycle Logic, and look forward to showing off our team in the spring of 2007.
